IR1/CR1: Spouse of a U.S. Citizen.
Applicable to U.S. Citizens
Spouse must be legally married.
The immigration sponsorship file will be opened upon receipt of the marriage certificate.
The sponsor must be at least 18 years old and residing in the U.S.
Waiting times for this sponsorship vary based on circumstances, typically lasting from 4 to 8 months.
Marriages under 2 years are considered CR1. IR2/CR2: Biological or Adopted Child of the Applicant
Applicable to U.S. Citizens.
Child must be unmarried and under 21 years old.
Biological children are only considered if married before turning 18.
The application waiting period will be completed at the same time as IR1.
IR5: Biological or Adopted Parent of a U.S. Citizen
Only sponsored by U.S. citizens.
U.S. citizens aged 21 and over can process sponsorship applications for biological or adopted parents under IR-5.
Step-parents must marry their biological parents before the sponsor turns 18.
If the sponsor has been legally adopted, the sponsor may not be able to sponsor the biological parents.
Each residency application must have a separate sponsorship file. The waiting period for approval of applications and interview calls ranges from 1 to 2 years.
K1/K2
Applicable to U.S. Citizens.
Fiancé/fiancée of the sponsor.
Both must be unmarried.
Both must have met in person within the past 2 years.
After being granted a Visa and arriving in the U.S., they must marry within 90 days and then apply for a green card with the U.S. immigration office.
The sponsor’s fiancé(e)’s child will be under 21 years old and unmarried, qualifying for a K-2 Visa.
The waiting time for application approval is approximately 7 to 10 months.
F1
Applicable to U.S. Citizens.
Child over 21 years old and unmarried.
If during the visa application and processing time the Applicant marries, the application will switch to F-3 status, and USCIS will reopen it under F-3.
There is an annual limit.
The waiting time for application approval is from 3 to 6 years.
F2A
Applicable to PERMANENT RESIDENTS.
Spouse and unmarried children under 21 years old.
The waiting time for application approval is from 3 to 6 months.
F2B: Unmarried children over 21 years old of Permanent Residents.
Applicable to PERMANENT RESIDENTS.
Unmarried children over 21 years old.
The waiting time for application approval is from 3 to 6 months.
However, it may take longer due to priority given to F2A cases.
F3: Married children of U.S. Citizens
Applicable to U.S. Citizens.
This category is for married children over 21 years old.
Spouse and children of the applicant can accompany them.
There is an annual limit.

F4: Brothers and sisters of U.S. Citizens
Applicable to U.S. Citizens.
The sponsor must be 21 years old or older.
Spouse and unmarried children under 21 years old of the applicant can accompany them.
